Your question
What does care cost?
Request the proposed plan’s total cost in writing. Keep the visit charge, medicine charge, and ongoing charges on separate lines.
Why is the headline price not enough?
Prices checked in September 2026 can vary for the same medicine according to the payment method.
The maker publishes a list price. A cash price is what is paid without insurance.
A savings card offers a discount, or help with the patient’s share of an insurance bill, for people who meet its terms.
A government program has its own payment rules; its price is different from a savings-card offer.
Ask which price is being quoted and whether you meet its terms.
What is a concrete medicine-price example?
In September 2026, the government website TrumpRx.gov listed tirzepatide, sold as Mounjaro, at a cash price starting at $499 a month.
Mounjaro is a medicine approved for type 2 diabetes.
This example shows how a listed price works. It does not show what treatment would help your recovery or performance concern. Ask for the cost of your own proposed care, including visits.
What belongs in the total?
- What is charged for the first visit and for later visits?
- What does the medicine cost after any opening offer?
- Are tests, shipping, or other charges separate?
- Is a recurring payment required? How is it stopped?
- What is refunded if I do not receive the proposed treatment?
Will the cash price count towards insurance?
Under the makers’ direct cash-payment offers checked in September 2026, the medicine is paid for outside insurance.
Those payments do not count towards the insurance deductible or out-of-pocket limit.
A plan’s rules set an amount you pay first, called the deductible, before its payments begin. The out-of-pocket limit caps what you pay for covered care. Ask your insurer how it treats the offer you are considering.
What can change after an opening offer?
For many savings cards and cash offers, the terms checked in September 2026 end on December 31, 2026.
Ask for the later price and the offer’s end date in writing.
