Training goals raise care questions

Check the organisation that governs your sport before settling on a care plan. Take the exact medicine name to that discussion.

Which world sport list is in force?

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) uses the 2026 Prohibited List as of September 2026. This list names the substances banned in sport.

Its published replacement takes effect on January 1, 2027.

Which peptide examples are named?

The September 2026 WADA rules name BPC-157 among unapproved substances barred at all times.

Those rules also ban TB-500, ipamorelin, sermorelin, and tesamorelin during both training and competition.

Growth hormone is a chemical message made by the body; WADA bans it and substances that make the body release it.

A different product name does not settle whether it belongs to this group. Ask your sport organisation to check the exact substance.

At all times means during training as well as during competition.

Are weight medicines treated the same way?

As checked in September 2026, semaglutide and tirzepatide appear on WADA’s watch list, which tracks use in sport.

Being watched does not ban them; neither name appears on WADA’s banned list.

This does not give permission for every similar medicine or under every sport organisation’s rules.

Ask about the exact product and the rules that cover your event.

What if I need a banned medicine for an illness?

Permission from the US Anti-Doping Agency to use banned medicine for a qualifying medical need is called a therapeutic use exemption.

Athletes in certain testing groups need that permission before using the medicine.

Other athletes are directed to a form for a pre-check. It tells them whether an application for permission is needed.

Ask your sport organisation which group you are in, who checks the form, and what must happen before you use the medicine.

What if I compete in college?

The NCAA, the US college sport association, has its own rules: its 2026–27 list names BPC-157, TB-500, and ibutamoren (MK-677).

The NCAA and WADA lists differ, and the NCAA list can change during the school year.

What matters here?

A care plan and sport permission need separate checks with the people responsible for each.
